Weaning is a period of disruption. The piglet has to switch to solid feed, restart its intake, adapt its digestion and progressively stabilise its microbiota. After weaning, the drop in feed intake is not limited to lower feed consumption: it reduces digestive stimulation, weakens intestinal morphology, disrupts barrier function and can slow down microbiota adaptation. When intake picks up again and then accelerates, the digestive tract has to cope with a growing feed load while its capacity for digestion, acidification, absorption and fermentation is still maturing.
Contact us →The role of fibre changes as the piglet grows. REALDYME® supports each stage with a consistent, continuous approach.
Learning to eat solid feed in the farrowing pen stimulates curiosity, salivation, enzyme secretion and an initial adaptation of the microbiota. This is a preparation window, not a formality: the earlier it starts, the smoother the transition to weaning.
The dietary, social and environmental disruption depresses intake at the very moment the gut is most vulnerable: immature digestive capacity, a fragile barrier, pathogen pressure (E. coli, mycotoxins) and high health variability.
Once intake picks up again, the challenge changes: the digestive tract has to absorb a growing feed load without disrupting gastric pH, colonic pH stability or digestive tolerance.
REALDYME® supports all three windows: this defines its role as a complementary lever in creep feed, pre-starter and starter feed, where feed intake dynamics, digestive tolerance and feed valorisation are put under particular pressure. It adds to other formulation levers — acidification, structural fibres, protein load management — without replacing them.
Recommended inclusion rate: 1%, replacing wheat, barley, maize or wheat bran.
